Compress PDF

Shrink PDFs for email, job applications and upload portals with 1MB or 2MB limits. Text stays sharp (Thai included). Free, and your files are never uploaded.

From Photos, Files or Google Drive

Files stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

How it works

  1. 1Choose the PDF you want to make smaller.
  2. 2Pick a compression level. Recommended is the best place to start.
  3. 3Compress the PDF and download the smaller file.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compress a PDF to under 1MB?

Start with the Recommended level. If the file is still too big, try the stronger level, and if that’s not enough, use the smallest option. It shrinks files the most, but turns each page into an image, so text can no longer be copied or searched.

Why do scanned PDFs shrink more than PDFs exported from Word?

Most of a scanned PDF’s size comes from images, which compress very well. Text-only PDFs are usually small already, so there’s less to gain.

Will compression make my text blurry?

No. Except for the smallest option, the levels leave text and fonts untouched and only compress images. The lossless level only restructures the file, keeping 100% of the quality. Text in Thai or any other language stays exactly as it was.

Is it safe to compress confidential PDFs here?

Yes. Compression runs in your browser and your file is never uploaded.
