Frequently asked questions
Should I use JPG, PNG or WEBP?
JPG is best for photos: small files that open anywhere. PNG suits logos, screenshots and images that need a transparent background. WEBP gives the smallest files and is great for websites, but some older programs can’t open it.
How do I convert WEBP to JPG?
Images saved from websites are often WEBP, which some apps and upload forms reject. Choose JPG as the output format and convert.
What happens to a transparent background when I convert PNG to JPG?
JPG doesn’t support transparency, so transparent areas become white automatically. To keep transparency, choose PNG or WEBP.
Will converting to GIF make an animation?
No, this gives a single still GIF. To make an animated GIF from several images, use our “Images to GIF” tool. Converting an animated GIF to another format keeps only the first frame.
Do I have to upload my images?
No. Images are converted in your browser on your own device, so nobody else sees them.
